about the winery:
ADELSHEIM VINEYARD WAS FOUNDED WITH AN OPTIMISTIC SPIRIT AND A LOFTY DREAM: TO CREATE WORLD-CLASS WINES IN AN UNDISCOVERED WINE REGION, THE CHEHALEM MOUNTAINS OF OREGONβS WILLAMETTE VALLEY.
Luck, fate, and a single-minded determination to make world-class wine in Oregon led David and Ginny Adelsheim to purchase their first 19 acres just outside Newberg, Oregon in 1971. Drawn to the uniqueness of the land and its proximity to Portland, it was here they decided to stake their claim, plant their first rows of Pinot noir along Quarter Mile Lane, and establish what would become the Chehalem Mountainsβ first-ever winery in 1978βAdelsheim.β
tasting notes:
2016 breaking ground pinot noir
βDeliciously layered aromas of black cherry and black raspberry lift out of the glass, followed by exotic spice notes and a dark, rich loamy quality. This wine is like satin in the mouthβso supple. It toes the line between ethereal and ponderous in the most delightful way.β
2018 staking claim chardonnay
βThere is a ton of perfect, ripe Bosc pear on the nose, accompanied by fragrant, spicy florals and an elusive note I canβt quite put my finger on. The texture is luscious yet refreshing. This wine will pair well with a late spring picnic, dappled sunshine, and nothing else to do.β
